I'm curious to know how many players live in (or within 200 miles of) Illinois? I know I do (lol). Bobill and Pea fit into this radius. Any others?

What would you think about a Runescape-themed picnic/potluck at a location which is a fair distance to all attendees? We could have tuna potatoes (Are those really good?!), Dragon Bitter (strawberry soda), maybe some salmon patties, cookies which resemble toad crunchies...any food found in RS! We could spend a day at a water park to keep kids entertained or go fishing in a river somewhere. I'm open to ideas, but how many would be interested in setting up a date this summer?

Yes, all are welcome even if you live far away providing you're willing to travel. :D

How about posting your city/state if you're interested so I can triangulate a meeting location which is a fairly-equal distance for all attendees? No full names or other contact info needed. I may not be able to keep it exactly fair since I'd also like to meet in a place/city that has something to offer. It wouldn't be much fun to meet in a village having a population of 33 now would it?! lol

I'm in Springfield, IL and judging from what I think I know (probably not 100% correct) the meeting place would probably be somewhere in the Illinois area of Bolingbrook about an hour south of Chicago. That city has plenty to offer regardless of what activities we might later have in mind. What are your thoughts about the driving distance Pea & Bo?

Please ask others to visit this post so everyone can be aware of the event being planned. If more want to come we might have to adjust the meeting location, but I'd like to get that part settled first.

Just assuming we did settle on Bolingbrook, IL, two possibilities below...

Hidden Lakes Historic Trout Farm

http://www.bolingbrookparks.org/Attract ... rmits.aspx

Those over 16 need a permit ($10-15) to fish this stocked pond, nice picnic areas, I can bring several fishing poles and gear. They have special days for fishing derby events which we could join (or avoid), but they open prior to noon and might be less crowded than the water park (below).

Pelican Harbor Indoor/Outdoor Aquatic Park

http://www.bolingbrookparks.org/Attract ... ation.aspx

$6-8 per person, weekend hours are noon-8pm. Probably more crowded, adults might not want to swim, etc.

Map of Bolingbrook, IL showing locations of both of these places.

There are tons of other possibilities and locations though so let your ideas be known!

I live in Lafayette Indiana. Driving is not an issue I got a liciense in 1976. Would love to spend a couple hours driving with the kids in the car. We do need more people I just triangulated it and I figured Rantoul IL is a central location. I have been there not much to see lol.

I like the water park idea. That would make the drive home quiet.

All sounds very fun, but adding midway to Australia will ruin it, I fear! ;)

Well, based on comments left here and shared in-game we have wal (PA), pea and bo (IN), me (IL) interested in attending so that's 4, plus the guests we each bring. That sounds like a party. Any others? Time is running out to get in on the planning, once the place is set it will be hard to change it.

Wal, Pea and Bo: Location suggestions please. Should we think Indianapolis to get closer to Wal? It's further from me but probably has more to offer than Rantoul, IL (lol).

Another idea: Santa Claus, IN...Holiday World and Splashin' Safari... A theme park with all-you-can-drink soda and roller coasters plus a huge water park. I'll probably camp a night at Rudolph's right next door if we can plan this over a weekend in June, but there are a couple of motels there too. Too far to drive? Too expensive? Let me know pros and cons.

Pea suggested Indiana Beach which seems a bit better (and closer) than Holiday World:

Park Map: http://www.indianabeach.com/files/ib_park_map_02.jpg

No outside food can be brought into the park so if we really want RS themed picnic we'd have to take the ferry to the campground on the other side of the river where the picnic pavilion is located (IB Campground, link below, also has fishing)

http://dcwi.com/~webmaste/IB/camping.htm).

What say you?
